About me

I am the CTE Recruiter and Retention Specialist with Allegany College of Maryland.  We are a rural community college offering 24 Career Education A.A.S. degrees.  After spending countless years as a social worker, I found myself drawn to ACM to help special population students gain access to higher education.  Student success is my goal!  Currently an ACTE Cohort 4 Fellow, much of my time is spent expanding my knowledge of CTE, leadership skill activities, and thinking "outside the box" recruitment strategies.

I have completed the CT301 CTE Administrator, but cannot find the course that directly works with the Administrator Handbook.  Can you provide that link please? Thank you

It is critically important for anyone, whether it be an administrator or faculty/instructors/staff, to be aware of all the regulations set forth by Perkins.  We are all held accountable for the money provided to us and need to properly use the funds as allowed.  This is a good way to have checks and balances within the school.

It is all about accountability and the use of funds appropriately.  The emphesis on correctly using the funds as the regulations have established.

It definitely supports the goals, however, there are cases where it will hinder especially in post-secondary CTE regarding resources to support our special populations.  In rural areas where services and financial supports are limited, there are barriers to offering all the supports to special populations.  Opening up a grant for LEA's to apply for would be beneficial in these situations.

I was not surprised as I have been immersed in Perkins for the last year.  Any governing enitity over funds will have accountabillity requirements.  They want a good return on their investment.
