I am a Surgical Technology Instructor at Sanford Brown Institute in Iselin New Jersey. I am a Certified Surgical Technologist and have been in this Profession for the past 11 years. I love my Profession and love teaching the next generation of healthcare providers. I am fortunate to be in such a rewarding field!
The classroom can be magic and to bring a new rewarding career to another human being (while a very heavy load) enhances my life.

Totally agree with Marianne and Lee-Ellen. We must recognize that technology is here to stay however I believe setting the parameters and most important being the model for our students is most important. How many instructors have you seen on their cell phones or worse yet....with a blue tooth flashing and talking during class time??? I've seen it and I'm always stunned.

I am so grateful to have all of you as a community of knowledge. I have a challenge for which I need some input and help. I am trying to create a Rubric for our weekly Lab Assessments. I teach Surgical Technology and our lab classes are hands-on techniques. We now use a check-off form which indicates "meets expectations" or "needs improvement". ED101 has inspired me to move these very important "bones" of my students' futures to have more impact on them to practice and improve---I believe a Rubric grading is the answer. I would love to work… >>>
For the past year I have been tackling the enormous task of cultivating critical thinking in my students. I have done an enormous amount of research; created a power point...etc. etc. I have been fortunate to see positive successful results for my students.
ED116 is a life-saver. I have so much more to offer my students now. Fabulous examples and I now have a greater understanding of methodologies to reach my students. I am now more empowered to provide the best for my students.
Thoroughly enjoyed this Course. It reinforced my class management strategies and opened my eyes to improvements in what I am already doing.
I agree with you Carrie. ED104 reaffirmed my teaching style and added more value to my direction. I, as well, appreciated the insight into handling an "angry student" and will definitely use my newly acquired knowledge.

This was a wonderful adventure! I found support for what I already do; fuel for expansion and growth and new methods to bring the very best to my students. I look forward to participating in more Courses.

I enjoyed ED310 very much and will utilize newly learned activities with my students. I always believed interaction combined with our traditional teaching methods allows the students to maximize their education.
