You know your stuff, you taught for years, the course is the same, what could possibly be a draw back to teaching on-line. Welllll, I found out this past winter. We had a blizzard 3- 6 feet of snow. Everyone is stranded but having some great one on one time with their families and almost carefree attitudes. Food was a-plenty, gas, electric and phones still worked and it was December!
AND I HAD TO WORK ALL OF MY ON LINE COURSES....

As an accountant, I still struggle with allowing late assignments. If the deadline is 11:59 and I accept work at 12:05 what about people who work during the night? I also ensure students have the information necessary to work ahead if they wish. I feel drawing the line enables me to be fair to all students (unless there is a death or hospitalization).

Some instructors think if they raise and lower their voice that they can keep everyones attention. This only scares me while I am trying to concentrate.

I believe it is in poor taste to display another university's emblem (whether shirt or computer bag)while teaching at a different university. Are there rules about this?

I have had several spouses and family members take on line courses at the same time and submit similar work. They end up getting similar grades. I really hate that they may be losing out but?

I have students who are always typing a comment in the online chat room. Half of the time it is not relevant to the classroom discussion. I am trying to read all posts, answer them, look at my notes, run the computer and review items in the book. I have tried redirecting this student every class. I also set aside time to review the class expectations again noting the request to stay on topic. Your thoughts?

Usually half the class is really into it and the other half needs an additional boost. Why is that?
