About me

Activity

would like to build a mentor program to include community clinicians for early networking for the students

I understand that taking time to meet the applicants and having multiple interactions with the prospective student allows them more time to ask any questions and ensure they are ready for this step. This helps retain the student vs. rushing them through the process.

Discussion

good review

Continue building rapport with students through the first week. Include student activities, engagement with staff, following through with classroom expectations to set the bar of all future class sessions.

discuss all important programmatic information so they know up front; introduce all staff and have them provide a small background about their experience and what they bring to the table; create a welcome pack to send home with the students.

Incorporate games to add fun to orientation, team based activities to build sense of belonging; incorporate  hunt around campus to increase their knowledge of where departments are located and offer prizes to the winning teams.

We need to ensure the students are able to see the value in what they are gaining to ensure they want to continue coming back to class for each session. We need to make sure the instructors are knowledgeable and can build that trusting rapport.

It was great to hear ways to get employees involved with the program and working towards a larger goal. This will help them feel a sense of belonging to the facility as well.

I have learned several new strategies to improve my coaching skills and the course provided downloadable worksheets and handouts to access in the future.

There are things to consider when transferring F2F content to online content. The instructor needs to ensure it is clear, concise, and easy to follow.
