I think you hit the nail on the head Andriana. If the goal is to help students get an education and succeed in their educational and career goals, then it makes sense that we would want to enroll the RIGHT students for our school. Taking the time to explore all options with our students allows us to help them through the decision-making process, and though they may not enroll at your school - the positive experience they had with you could turn into a referral down the road. Thank you for your post.
All that you mention are great team collaboration techniques. What can you do to incorporate these technique into the meetings with which you are involved?
Thank you for your post Diane. How do you think you need to adjust your communication to better connect with other generations?
Does knowing this help you understand your needs and how you might need to adjust your approach with other generational styles?
It does take some time to plan out an effective call but it could benefit you, your school and the student in the long run. Don't forget about campus events that may spark an interest. I'm also curious, if you are up to call #6 and the prospective student hasn't called us back, what might they be saying to you?
That's great Samantha! Let us know how your new techniques work out for you.
Great observations Andriana. Let us know how your new tour tips work out for you!

@lmerante :Hi Lori and thank you so much for your post.  I agree that some admission reps have taken the "counseling thiing too far" but what we're talking about is actually training then to do real, meaningful counseling.  I think it's very dangerous that some admission reps are "playing counselor" without the proper skills and training.  Imagine if they were trained to actually help students understand their full potential, options, and create a plan for success.

@KirstieDB :Thanks for the post, Kirstie!  As a group, we are hearing there is a gap between adopting new technologies and helping faculty understand best practices in utilizing these tools to improve learning outcomes.  What have you seen?

As you can see in other responses to this forum, we like the follow-up question, 'Is that what you expected?' which allows you to determine how the student feels about the cost of tuition. If they are okay with it then you can move on to the next step in your campus visit. Let us know how that works our for you.
