Feedback is essential in a student's learning process. It's hard to decipher if written self assessment-feedback is helpful. A rubric definitely informs the student of what is expected of their work, and what the instructor is expecting for the final product. I have found that written peer review feedback is not always helpful. Most of the time, I have reviewed students giving others in their group all exceptional contributions, when you know that one or more students do most of the work. Not sure how to get around that problem.

I have a student that is constantly saying they can't get online to do the work, what do you do in this case? I have trouble believing her situation.

Since teaching online, I have instituted lots of technology-related communication that has become available. What I especially like is the ability to use a whiteboard on most media communications

Learning to chunk information into a wiki is a new term for me, and to understand how this is applied.

This concept is very time-consuming for the instructor. With that being said, I find that the success for students has to be the positive feedback, and critique of the students' work to be time-sensitive. understanding a student's learning style with a ten-week instruction does not give the instructor time to help the success for their student.

I teach adult students, and their time is weighed against being a student, mother/father, and employee. Most times, by the end of the course they discover that what works for some of their colleagues does not always work for them. And sometimes I have… >>>

I have both didactic and clinical classes. My concern when taking the test was that I seem to remember that faculty were stakeholders to consider when devising information for implementation on hardware and software programs. I know students with surveys should also be asked, but students are not the ones to set the classes or programs up.

I am all for setting up programs with technology. I do find it is time-consuming to learn how to use a software program. I have had tp learn some programs by the seat of my pants, and still, mess up in front of… >>>

Training is ineffective unless the desired behavior, knowledge and skills are transferred to the workplace. Applying what you’ve learned from your training will help you maximize your performance results.

I often explain to my students the value of learning while on the job.  As a dental hygienist, my experience has taught me that I can't do the job alone, but depend on my fellow coworkers to help achieve a satisfactory day! And in turn, I help them with their duties so that we show our patients/employees that we are a cohesive unit and can work through whatever is thrown at… >>>

I too have noticed that when the more experienced student knows what to expect, to have them explain and mentor the newer students is better for the retention of the other students. We as educators may not always envision what a student is feeling, or the anxiety involved in their attempts to master material we hope they gain through our teaching.

Often times when I have students in my classes or in clinic, and they tell me personal things, in the past I have often felt this is something I don't need to know about. Its hard to know when it is ok to step in and be a counselor, and when to sit back and say nothing at all. It seems to me that the older students (those in their 30's and 40's) are better capable of handling their personal issues then the younger students (late teens to twenty something). These younger students want to expound on their troubles more,… >>>
