I learned there are different ways students have different learning abilities and behaviors, which they exhibit in classrooms as well as online. 

I learned the difference between synchronous and asynchronous learning; that learning becomes more effective is a small class size in a synchronous learning environment, while it is acceptable to have a larger class size in an asynchronous learning environment. 

Sometimes it is a challenge to engage students in classroom discussion. 

I learned that it is important to project your qualifications as an instructor by highlighting your academic degree, accomplishments and hobbies. 

I learned that there are different teaching strategies that instructors may use to facilitate an effective learning environment for students who come from different backgrounds.
