Applying while being assertive is a great approach for instructors. Using a firm yet supportive method of interaction redirects the learner to focus on completing objectives. 

Asynchronous communication is the way to go when it comes to feedback from course work. Synchronous communication should occur while the instructor is on a live camera platform such as Zoom or WebEx. 

The key to project authority is adaptation. I think that an instructor should be flexible to express expectations and communication during a course so that the student are aware of how to progress while meeting objectives. 

With new approaches to deliver course content, I wholly believe that understanding the CMS thoroughly can make instructional delivery effective and easier to meet learning objectives.
