I agree with setting clear expectations on the first day, and sticking with them. It is important to pay attention to your students body language to know if they are learning. Make sure if you suspect cheating that you can back up the accusation with proof.

Instructors need to be attentive to students of different ages, and learning styles to focus on keeping everyone engaged. Making sure that you treat everyone fairly, especially when it comes to talk time in class, grading, and turning assignments in on time.

There is empowerement for the students if you make sure you clearly outline how they will be graded, course assignments, and learning objectives. It can be imortant to have an "ice breaker" session at the first class meeting to allow the students to feel comfortable with you, and their fellow classmates. Being a well rounded instructor by showing your knowledge of the subject, professional and personal experiences, and that you have a true passion for what you are teaching will guide the students towards success.

I plan to allow autonomy for folks to bring their experiences in to the class. Adult learners want to bring in their own skills, and work ethics. The younger generations tend to be focused on how they are perceived by their peers, and the fear of failure.

As an instructor you are likely to have a class filled with a wide range of ages, and it is important to remember to teach according to this range, and not focus on any one particular age group.
