Activity

I have walked into a classroom with zero plan and it was the absolute worst.  Having a lesson plan and following the curriculum can make your life and their experience easier.

I like the different ways taught to engage students.  Each student learns differently and has different interests.  Hopefully, incorporating several different methods will engage everyone on some level.

Know the difference between goals, objectives and outcomes is so important.  Having a lesson plan prepared and spelled out will be the key to success.

Safety first is my #1 and will be stressed in my classroom!  But can we talk about Mr. Reynolds?!  I watched his entire video and was as excited as he was the entire time!  I wish I had a teacher like him, better yet, I hope to one day BE a teacher like him!  What a cool dude!

We never know what the student is going home to.  Make your room a safe teaching environment and some place they can be comfortable learning and asking questions.  Respect them and they will respect you.

MENTOR MENTOR MENTOR!  I never thought about the importance of them in this field because I feel like teaching is such an independent thing.  I can look at it completely differently now like I don't have to do this alone, even if I am alone in my classroom.

How truly important it is to remain professional.  A lot of times we relate to our students, in my case because they are also adults and in the same field as me, but how I need to remember that they are not my friends.  How we present ourselves speaks volumes to how they will represent themselves in the field.

Learning the history of anything is always a huge part of understanding the WHY for me.  I think the origin always sets the tone and helps me with future learning.  There are many benefits to CTE learning and I'm excited to learn about all of them!
