Having only been an instructor for a couple of months, this is the most relevant course to my situation Iv'e taken. THis knowlwge will come in very helpful with my next class of students.

Standardized tests are great when everyone learns the same way. Learning preferences will vary and may produce different results. Rubrics allow instructors to see that a student does comprehend the subject and does not rely soley on standardized testing.

Allow students to use their "mother tounge" to help them become literate in the English language.

Race is a social construct. Culture is real life experience of people, such as language and heritage.

Main thing I learned was to *remember* not change voice tone when interacting with different genders.

1. Take the time to get to know your students and let them get to know each other. Cover the syllabus.

Preperation is key to sucessful instruction. knowing your students names and speding extra time before and after class is motivational and will help them feel comfortable with you.

Dress the part. be a friend, not a pal. Stay current and up to date with your knowledge. Remember, there is always someone smarter than you...
