Knowing the federal regulations helps in understanding the process to enroll new students.

The regulations on misrepresentation are to help protect the potential students.  What is your experiences with this?

How would you deal with a parent who believes in No screen time (TV, iPad/tablets/phone) for young kids?

There are many pros and cons to this issue.  Educational content vs Advertising and harmful content, Educational games vs Time wasting games, Technical exposure vs no exposure.

What are you personal thoughts and experiences on having no screen time or too much screen time?

Learning lots of new things, did not know about the Color and personality.  Learned something new.

I think one of the most significat items in developing a class is to have it organized and presented clearly for the students.

This is important because when they log in and read over the syllabus and tasks, if they have too man un-answered questions it delays they from getting started with the owork.  After teaching a class a few times, I know the top 10 questions the students always ask, so I create a list of these questions with answers and I email it to the students on the first day of class.  This reduces the confusion and gets… >>>

I remember playing simulation games like Civilazation and Sim City.  These were good learning games. What are the top games today that are similar?

Timely feedback is critical for the online student.  I make sure to respond withing the 24 hour response period, usually much sooner.  If the student doesn't get feedback quickly it may hinder them in moving forward with the task/assignment they are working on.  For some borderline passing students this may be signficant in their ability to pass the class.

In the begining of an online class, one way I communicate with students is email.

I send them the TOP 10 frequently asked questions in my class.  This helps because I would usually get many students asking the same questions.  Students can quickly get going in the class after reading the answers to the questions about the class.

After teaching a course I realized that multiple students ask the same questions.  I create a frequently asked question list and send it to all students before they have to ask it.  I also update the list as the class goes along.  This way the student can read it and know the answers to questions you know they will be emailing you about.  This reduces their confusion and reduces the amount of email you get.

One tip I use often is that when I get a question from student I add it to a Frequenlty Asked Question list when I expect other student to have the same question.  Then I email that list to all students.  This helps the students signifcantly since it lets them be aware of issues with the class they may have.
