About me

I began my nursing career in the Mid-West and knew then that I wanted to become a nurse educator in the era of the coming 21st Century health care.  This is my personal contribution of sharing knowledge to the new generation of nurses on the horizon.  I started as an Adjunct Professor, Technical-PN Program,  and full time on ground Maternity/Child educator, since 2006.  Areas of expertise, L/D, Maternal Child, Women's Health, Nursery,  Med/Surg,  Emergency Level 1-2.  I have enjoyed by chosen profession with no or very little regret and challenge students to accomplish their goals and endeavors as a healthcare provider with success.

Activity

The syllabi is very important for students to be aware of expectation necessary to pass the course, know expectations and what they have to accomplish.  Making sure the due dates for assignments are accurate and posted in the syllabus.

Discuss the importance for student participation in sustaining a positive learning environment.  How does direct interaction between peers, an instructors motivate the learning environment and make learning fun?

It helps to keep the momentum for students to  have high levels of enthuasiasm.  This brings excitement and positive anticipation.

It motivates students when they can see that the instructor is as excited about the subject and demonstrates knowledge.  This encourages the student to want the same outcomes.

Learn to have a genuine interest and care for sthe tudents learning

There are definently a lot of responsibilities with online teaching.  The content must be organized and consistent.  Communication must be understood for online learning to be effective.  

I learned that there must be consistency of  course design, activities, and teaching style.

I learned that tools can be used for their intended function and for different uses if they meet the needs of the intended student outcome.  The instructor should test the tool being used for the effectiveness of the learning objective.
