About me

I began my nursing career in the Mid-West and knew then that I wanted to become a nurse educator in the era of the coming 21st Century health care.  This is my personal contribution of sharing knowledge to the new generation of nurses on the horizon.  I started as an Adjunct Professor, Technical-PN Program,  and full time on ground Maternity/Child educator, since 2006.  Areas of expertise, L/D, Maternal Child, Women's Health, Nursery,  Med/Surg,  Emergency Level 1-2.  I have enjoyed by chosen profession with no or very little regret and challenge students to accomplish their goals and endeavors as a healthcare provider with success.

I would be proactive and observe opportunities to initiate and open a dialogue with students.

I have learned that if you want a successful business, the first priority is to deliver excellent customer service and put the customer first.

Students are the number one priority.  Faculty are to bring their best to the forefront of education.  Make every effort to meet their needs and be resourceful.  Whenever you're not sure on any topic or deficit, be humble and reach out for help from the instructor.

The theory, also known as transformational learning, according to J. Mezirow says this revolves around the premise that adults can adjust their thinking based on new information. They possess the necessary set of experiences needed to undergo a significant thought transformation.

Accessibility could also mean affordability for different students.  How would the funds be contributed based on the needs?  

Instructors would benefit from continuing education when new technology is implemented.  Knowing what technology is appropriate for the setting is useful.  Teamwork and sharing more consistently.  It does take time, but it will be rewarding for the student and faculty. 

Keep an open mind that everyone's opinion and contribution to building collaborative learning is important.  Opinions matter, and they can be different. This helps to bring respect and trust.  I believe this will foster growth and provide an opportunity to expand on different teaching methods.

There are more variations in teaching methods utilized in the Flipped Classroom.  This is effective and comes with a lot of complaints from some students because they say they feel like they are teaching themselves.  What most don't understand is that they are actually learning.  Flipping the classroom depends on the instructor's technical skills and the level of assistance needed.

Teachers in early education are interacting often and explaining with repeated information to the students, and when watching, you can observe the drive that the young student has to know more.  A great opportunity for the Teacher to develop questions, and when they understand, the children climb the stairs of knowledge.  I love to see this enthusiasm.

Students need to know that they are being supported.  Students are trying to make decisions and do not have the life experience, depending on their journey, age, and personal background.  This is a critical time for Customer Service to listen and get to know the customer's needs.  This is an opportunity to turn things around to a real opportunity to make the experience successful and clear up unknown assumptions.
