Handling stress and time management go hand in hand to me. I have a very difficult time saying "no". I am getting better and I held my ground this past quarter for the most part I did not let them turn in really late work, or give me all their excuses under the sun. I felt much better about the end of the quarter not trying to grade all the late work that students had turned in to me. I have trouble finding that line to helping the student succeed and learn and have policies that will hurt those that procrasinate… >>>

I really like your article. Patience is important not only with special needs but all of our students. Some just learn at a slower rate than others, that may not qualify them as special needs but they need our patience. I am a mother of a special needs child, actually three of four had some form of special needs in their education, from slow learner to autisic and I volunteer with special needs groups. I agree it is a good training session to indicate the things we are doing in the classroom are the right things. Our energies are being put in the right direction. Get to know your students, their names, and how they learn is most effective in our classroom planning process.
