About me
I earned my MA in English and MA in English Literature in 1995. Over the years I have taught a variety of classes at colleges and universities in Chicagoland area. I have comprehensive administrative and curriculum development experience. On a personal note, my favorite class to teach is a Film Adaptation class.
I love reading, watching films, and traveling. I enjoy food and wine tasting as well.
Activity
I am going to deteremine students' computer proficiency, in order to see if there is someone who might have a hard time within an online environment. If I indentify students who are technologically challenged, I will make sure to refer them to appropriate resources, as well as communite the need to their advisors. This will help students become successful in my course.
I am planning to reach students in a variety of ways, and not only via phone, emails, during live chats, or in the forum. Students who are always conntected will benefit from deadline reminders sent to their smart… >>>

I think the course was truly valuable. It motivated me to expand my teaching techniques to reach even more students. I always strive to make teaching interactive and offer personalized feedback, but I truly enjoyed learning about a holistic approach. I am going to try and approach teaching from this perspective.
I think technology is keeping us - educators - on our toes. We need to take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities it offers to maximize the educational benefits for the students. We have so many more ways to engage to make learning more of an interactive process, ultimately increasing student motivation. Exciting!
@s101crider :It may be true you do not have to be a wizard to develop a great course. However, you need to have the knowledge of a specific discipline and teaching methodology.
Once in a while we all encounter a student who just does not "get it", not matter what. What approach do you take with a student who clearly has not understood the subject matter, and keeps on asking the same questions over and over after you have offered several explanations? In the meantime, other students find these questions annoying, if not ridiculous. Do you offer to continue explanations after class? Sometimes my students would attempt to re-explain, but not always does it work. I do not want to discourage the student, but at the same time, I cannot focus on… >>>
