Society reflects the grip that false reporting or the idea that Wikipedia is a valid source has overtaken our cultutral attitude that if I saw it on TV or heard it on social media, than it must be true. Are we that lazy or is it a lack of caring? Just sayin'

We all agree that we have to "defang" the negativity that a lot of kids and adults have towards reading. How many parents still read to their children or read at home? It starts there~~

I begin one of the college classes I teach with Maryann Wolf's fabulous work "Proust and the Squid." Her remarks that due to environmental conditions some kids by the time they enroll in school they are "behind" in their vocabulary by a million words. That always starts a robust conversation of the importance of literacy vs. word deserts.

I am excited to really understand how to use the technology to support learning in my classroom. Somebody  said, "AI is not going to take your job; somebody who knows how to use AI will replace you."

Made a lot of sense to me!

In three decades of being with teens, my opening few minutes are always spent checking my students; get eye contact, and ask how they are that day? It only takes a few seconds, but an adult with an open heart and eyes wide open does make a difference.
