About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Betsy, I love it! Competition is a great thing when it makes a better student academically. Students enjoy playing games and they retain from game playing. The perfect mixture is to have fun while learning. Patricia Scales
Hi Maricar, These are the type of things students need to encounter in class so that they will know how to handle various situations in the workplace. Patricia Scales
Hi Stephen, Note taking is an excellent way to determine what works and what does not work. Notes serves as a great reference tool when changes need to come about. Patricia Scales
H Maricar, Absolutely! This works when they feel they are the top person in the group. I have seen students come out of their shell by having a leadership role. Patricia Scales
Hi Michelle, Even adult learners love it when the instructor interacts with them. Rapport building is important in a student/instructor relationship. Let's make students feel important and help them succeed by establishing a rapport with them. Patricia Scales
Hi Jack, When students determine you are not serious about checking their work, they are not going to be as motivated to complete and turn in their work. Patricia Scales
Hi Rodney, Immediate feedback is key to ensure positive results. It is only fair to let students know how they are progressing within a timely manner. Patricia Scales
