About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi David, That's right! Students will clearly be able to see quality work verses poor work. Patricia Scales
Hi Erin, Having a visual adds great clarity. Students have a better understanding when they can see what is to be done. Patricia Scales
Hi Amy, Yes, we have to give our students a purpose. Students have more of an interest when they know what they are learning will be utilized in the professional work environment. Patricia Scales
Hi Michael, I love how you make learning apply to the real world. I especially love how you use yourself as various examples when explaining to your students. You are right, networking is extremely important, and our students need to be told the importance of it as you have done. I can tell that you are a super role model for your students based on your response. Continue to lead by example. Patricia Scales
Hi Shellie, Awesome! This is certainly real learning at its best. Students love it when we make learning fun and apply to what they will be doing in the workplace. I love how you allow the students to play both roles. Patricia Scales
Hi Clair, Students love being involved and sharing information that is applicable to the course content/lesson. It is amazing the quality of work students produce when they are in a group. Patricia Scales
Hi David, I have some students that have cheated before not because they did not understand the content, it was because they chose not to study for whatever reason. It was very surprising because the potential was definitely there. They simply dropped the ball and tried to make up for it in an unethical way. Patricia Scales
Hi Charles, You are right! You have a pretty good idea if a student is going to pass an exam or not. If you ever feel as though a student is not going to pass the exam, be proactive and offer additional help to the student. Patricia Scales
Hi Rodney, I agree! Silent students perform better in a smaller setting and around people they know/or are comfortable with. Patricia Scales
Hi Tawnya, Our students need to know how to think critically so that they are successful in the workplace. I love how you probe your students, yet guide them to help them develop their critical thinking skills. There are so many students who do not know how to think out of the box. t Patricia Scales
