About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Denise, Great questions to ask yourself to ensure you are an effective instructor! You are right, it goes without saying that the students are customers, and we do not have to say that, but we certainly should give them our very best daily. Patricia Scales

Hi Todd, Sometimes when you reprimand students, it is not always positive. Some students you have to be hard core with in order to get through to them because all they know is how to be hard. Patricia Scales
Hi Mary, As MAs our students must know how to think out of the box so that their patients are taken care of. Anytime we can give our students scenarios as to what they will encounter in the medical facility, we should, because this prepares them for the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Matthew, Awesome! You give your students situations that they may possibly encounter, and you are certainly getting them ready for the work force. We need to prepare our students for the real world as much as possible. Patricia Scales
Hi Katrena, Instructors need to take their dress levels above students. Instructors should be dressed professionally and conservatively every day. Patricia Scales
Hi David, I concur! We as instructors need to lead by example! We are some of our students only role model. Patricia Scales
Hi Linda, Super! Clients love it when we are knowledgeable, and yes they yearn for more. We have to sell our clients on returning. Patricia Scales
Hi Gary, I agree! Hands-on activities are great for retention of information. It sticks more with students when they can doit and/or see it. Patricia Scales
