About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Jennifer, Super! I teach Pro-D as well, and I show my students a finished portfolio, therefore they know exactly what is expected of them. I love teaching this course, most students love it too! Patricia Scales
Hi James, When students fully understand the course material and how they can benefit from it, they gain excitement. Patricia Scales
Hi Terry, Students get it when we make learning apply to the real world. Students really wake up when they know these are the types of things that they will have to utilize in the workplace. Patricia Scales
Hi Kirson, I love scenario learning because scenarios are things students will encounter in the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Jimin, I concur! Examples add great clarity for students. Students have a better understanding by seeing an example. Patricia Scales
Hi Melinda, At times we do have to spell things out for our students, this certainly helps with complaints. Students have no excuse for not knowing. Patricia Scales
Hi Gary, Students love it when we are able to share our personal experiences/stories as they apply to the course content. Book theory can bore students. Patricia Scales
Discussion Comment
Hi Marlene, We are there to help our students. We should always make our students feel comfortable whenever they need assistance. An unapproachable instructor is definitely in the wrong business. Patricia Scales
Hi John, Perpartion is a must, and when students see that you are knowledgeable, it makes for an enjoyable class. Patricia Scales
Hi Israel, Each time you teach a lesson you will pick up something to help you become better the next time! Teaching is like this, the more you do it, the better you will become. Patricia Scales
