About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Amy, I like this strategy as well. This gives order and sequence to the students as they get settled into a new course and are trying to learn what the expectations are. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jacqueline, Right you are. It is so much easier to build on a positive first impression than have to spend time digging out of a negative hole. No one is happy when that happens. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jamilya, This is what I call "setting the stage" in my new classes. We all learn about each other and get comfortable with how the course is going to be conducted. A laugh and shared experienced reinforce that this is going to be a good course for all those involved. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jacqueline, Right you are. All aspects of the learning setting need to be in balance. So preparation and the environment need to be considered in planning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Karen, So true. Rushing into a class at the last minute is very stressful for both the students and the instructor. Preparation enables an instructor to be in the class and get settled while the enjoying interaction with the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ed, I like the different ways you are expanding your instructional expertise and growing as a professional. You are hitting on the key ways to be more effective and efficient as a learning leader. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Karen, This is a great way to expand your knowledge and expertise of instructional delivery. In addition it helps to strengthen your relationship with your colleagues. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Anthony, The more connection you can make to the real world the more engaged the students will be. This is what a comprehensive education is all about. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lamarr, Good professionalism on all accounts. You are being a model in all aspects of the career development process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kit, It is a building process just as you state so it needs to be positive from the very first session of class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
