It seems tough these days with all the red tape it's hard to show those we teach that we care. What are some ways that you as a person show you care for others around you?

Like the idea of identifing the stressors and write them down, and come up with a plan to reduce stress in my life.

It is really challenging to work on reducing the stress on a daily basis.

This course is a huge help , especially that over the years my health had been impacted drastically, to the point I was on disability for 5 weeks due to stress .

I agree that ED112 is one of the most valuable courses offered within the CEE program. The course contains so much excellent material and ideas to utilize in the classroom. Just implimenting the concepts of security and autonomy in the classroom will be very helpful for the students and will allow them to gain more knowledge from their classroom experience.

Do some of you feel that your career college has failed you (wholly or partially) when it comes to preparing you to teach with the new technological tools out there?  (iPads, Surface tablets, or laptops) Or is it a lack of communication skills to disseminate information to the masses on the training needed to use the technology being offered up in the modern classrooms?

I like technology, at least I say I do, until someone wants me to use it in place of actually teaching material that I believe needs more of the personal touch.  Technology in the classroom can be a huge hit or a total flop.  It can hinge on the person using it and why they are using it.  Our school went to the iPad and Apple TV and sometimes I love it and sometimes if I could throw it out the window, I would.  I have a love/hate relationship at times with the iPad.  I realize that technology in the… >>>

We can see how technology is constantly changing pattersn in the classroom.  But is it wise to just change whenever there is a new method.  Evaluating the importance of the education should be considered first before just opening up a new way of teaching because we found a really cool way of applying the same message.

The academic environment seeks out individuals with so much education verses real world application/experience.  The theory lifestyle just doesn't cut it when training young eager students.  Why do we not evaluate more from the student's perspective of how valuable the instructors experience and education are to them.

A student is very perceptive when it comes to the instructor.  They decide in the first week if they are going to sit back and just memorize everything to get through this crap or they are really going to be engaged with the content and feel like this course is going to benafit… >>>

Something I have been pondering lately is the fact that a person with a Masters or PhD spends less time with a lot of technical application and in general does not respond as quickly in a hands on training environment as a person with less education but more work experience.

The next interesting thing I'm noticing is when you are looking for the job it only requires in most places a bachelors degree, but when you search for the teaching job it requires a masters degree or higher.  The interesting fact I notice is that most of those jobs as… >>>

I agree, and have seen some new instructors who are not prepared becuase they feel the pre selected electronic resources are enough. They augment but do not replace the faculty experience in a given trade or profession. The have great value in assisting those students who are kinesthetic  or visual learners, but it is the faculty sometimes that must assist the individual student to discover how best to use the many resources that are available per course.

As important as it is to maintain technological advancements in education for the age of digital natives, the benefits of many traditional educational methods are simply irreplaceable.
