I need to know what to do about students who are fearful of taking the state board exam.

Some times larger class's offer more energy, and things you can do

Yes it is.  Resources are a wonderful thing.

It is great to have a go to site that's able to answer questions that you may have in various areas.

That is an awesome depiction of Career College students and the part that they play. Video well done! WTG!

As uncomfortable as it makes them, I move my wall flowers to the front of the class. I have converted many wall flowers into confident participants over time. Being in front makes them more accessable to me for answering questions and it gives them a chance to feel safe in an exposed position. Staying in the back will never allow them to stretch and grow.

Good question...can be challenge sometimes...I try to set easy fun environment...mention funny thing that may have happend during the week...ask them if they have ever had similar type experience...

One of the "upsides" to all of the issues with For profit education is that classes sizes have gotten smaller.  I am not nearly as overwhelmed as I used to be.  These days a class of 14 is a large class, most of my classes are between 5-10 people.

I have found that motivating online students is a lot harder than classroom-based ones. Can any of you share somethig that has been successfull on bringing an online student back to class?

I wish with all my heart that I have smaller classes. My class size range from 14-17. All adult learners. This requires proper planning of content, activities and delivery. A large class takes a lot out of an instructor who does not settle for mediocre experience and one who wants the optimum learning experience for the students. There is also the different moods to deal with. It is the instructors responsibility to maintain a positive and peacefilled climate. Smaller classes are great but I unfortunately do not have that luxuary.
