This module was great in the sense of learning what it takes to build and maintain a relationship with your online learners and amplifying your presence from afar.

This was very informative on the structure, facililitaton, and support regarding the online education environment.

Comment on Thomas Pullin's post: Hi Thomas, I agree. The online learning platform allows students to have flexibility. Some programs even allow students to learn at their own pace, independently. I have learned so much that I can apply to my faculty role as an online instructor.

Critical thinking is a needed part of the work world, but there is a need for creative thinking.

Learning how to be a well rounded online instructor will make the students ability to complete a course more effectively.

In my field of study, I constantly stay informed of emerging technology.  I bring this into the class as to add value to material.

I give feedback that is always concept centric.

Communication is bidirectional.  Pausing for effect gives time for students to formulate a reasoned question.  Therefore, the instructor is better able to understand the context of the question.

There is a balance between concept and date range when planning the divided material.  There is a certian momentum that has to be maintained when delivering bite sized material over time.  Some can be devided by time such as dates, while others on content.  Knowing the material is key.

I have never seen conflicts in a math discussion before.  I have seen it in the regular classroom.  This unit made me think of how I would handle conflicts.  I believe approaching it by restating the requirements and rules of the discussion would be important.  Most people would not necessarily violate the rules so perhaps they are not aware of them.  I am not sure if I ever posted do's and dont's in discussion guidelines.
