I came into this module expecting theory and left with a clearer understanding of what I've been doing wrong. The extracurricular vs. intra-curricular distinction hit home-- if I'm not embedding CTSO work into class time and grading, I'm making it optional by default.
The SkillsUSA continuum (awareness to mastery) gave me a practical tool I can actually use. I plan to have students self-assess at the start of the year and build our chapter activities around moving them forward intentionally. No more checkbox planning.
I also appreciated the reality check that students who join CTSOs tend to already be the ones who least need the boost. Reaching the others requires removing real barriers (scheduling, financial, etc). That's harder work than I've been doing, but it's the work that matters.
