This module gave me a clearer way to think about employer partnerships. The WBL continuum helped me see that I've been lumping everything into "career prep" when there are actually different levels—awareness, exploration, preparation, training. That shift in language matters for how I plan activities.
I also appreciated the practical suggestions for finding partners. I don't always need to start from scratch--advisory boards, school committees, and student connections are already there if I use them.
What I'm still thinking about is sustainability. It's one thing to get employers in the door, but keeping them engaged year after year takes more than a thank-you note. I need to figure out a system for showing impact and making them feel like their time is actually moving the needle.
High-quality CTSOs enable students to connect with and learn from business and industry representatives through work-based learning, competitive events and more.
I learned how valuable industry partnerships are in strengthening CTSO programs and student learning. Working with local chefs, restaurants, and hospitality professionals helps students see real applications of their skills and builds connections for future careers. I plan to expand these partnerships by inviting more industry guests into the classroom, organizing job shadowing experiences, and involving professionals in CTSO events and competitions.
