quality media

I feel that quality media is great, but in some courses, there is no media presented.  It is truly only discussion threads and paragraphs to introduce the content.  Is this a BAD course?  Perhaps the higher education needs less media?  Comments?

The important thing is that the media is relevant to the content. Having a cute picture of a ktiten next to a spreadsheet about rainfall in Brazil is distracting and unnecessary. Having information come in on all sensory channels (audio/visual) can help to reinforce concepts without being distracting as long as it is relevant to the content and not just filler. I honestly think we need MORE media, not less, in order to fill those sensory channels. It can't just be arbitrary though, it has to be relevant and it has to be followed up by practical practice.

Relevant media is great but there should be a balance with the use media and should not be overused.  Therefore we should use teaching methodologies to enhance students' cognitive skills to become the media. Our great inventors did not make use of media from the start of their journey, their mind started the media journey--we want students to become critical thinkers.
