In the module "FERPA Challenges to Consider" I learned how other regulations could affect FERPA, for example HIPAA and Solomon Amendment. Also, it show examples of how FERPA applies to software vendors or how to handle technology topics under FERPA, for example, when publishing video from a class with students presentations.

In the module FERPA in Action, I learned some interesting topics, for example that the FERPA still applies to educational records of graduated students, only if they are alive, but if a student is deceased, the record can be disclosed.

In the "FERPA Compliance" module, I learned some topics such as directory and non-directory identified records, who could access the student record, some information that could be disclosed without student permissions, etc

From the fundamentals module, I learned that FERPA grants students rights to access their educational records and requires institutions to protect those records. I now better understand the importance of handling records responsibly, ensuring only authorized access, and obtaining student consent when necessary. I intend to apply this knowledge by carefully evaluating requests for information, ensuring disclosures align with FERPA, and maintaining confidentiality when handling records to respect students' rights to privacy.
