About me

Activity

Norman, It is a great idea to provide time in your lesson plan, to give students an opportunity to reflect on their backgrounds and areas of interest. Each day, you may find out something that will assist you in understanding their individual learning styles and levels of subject knowledge. Tremayne Simpson
Charles, This sounds like an effective procedure. In addition, it provides the senior technicians with the opportunity to serve as mentors and display their leadership skills. Tremayne Simpson
Margaret, In addition, lesson plans can also act as "teasers" in that you can create excitement for your students, as they anticipate a particular topic or activity that is scheduled for the class. Increasing the level of anticipation will enhance their level of attentiveness for the entire class. Tremayne Simpson
Crystal, I agree. In addition, if a proper plan is not in place, the instructor can also get confused (with the direction of the course) and create a perception (amongst the students)of being "unprepared". Tremayne Simpson
John, Are the power points provided by the publishers of the course textbook, as additional instructor support materials? Tremayne Simpson
Crystal, This sounds like an exciting activity for the students. The learning becomes intrinsic, when the student is highly engaged in the competition of an activity. I am assuming that you teach science courses? Tremayne Simpson
Discussion Comment
Crystal, I agree. It is important to leave time in the schedule (typically towards the end of the course) to allow for discussion of missed learning objectives. "Flex time" also provides us with the opportunity to "check-in" with students for retention of information and how they will apply the information in the future. Tremayne Simpson
antonio, Great observation. Does your school have a "shared" website or location, in which instructors can use to upload/store lesson plans and course materials? Tremayne Simpson
John, I agree. The primary idea of a "career college" is to provide students with an experience that will prepare them for their desired career. Therefore, all classes need to meet the specifications and guidelines of their appropriate fields. In addition, Advisory boards are generally utilized to ensure that school program's are "up-to-par" with the industry standards. Tremayne Simpson
John, Are you able to collaborate with other instructors (that teach your course)and provide recommendations for lesson plan revisions? Tremayne Simpson
