Hello, my name is Stephanie Taylor and I am an Arts and Sciences Instructor with ECPI University and just recently moved from Las Vegas, NV. I was born and raised in Richmond, VA and my family moved to NV in March of 2013.  It has been crazy!! Then in June of 2014, I moved to Durham, NC.  I can definitely say I am at East Coast girl!

I am very blessed to have good friends and family. I love my life, my puppy, my family, and friends. I had my first child on December 13, 2011. Her name is Madison Grace Taylor and dreams do come true. Want to know more...keep reading!

My educational background is in mathematics education. I graduated and began teaching at the High School Level. Due to SOL tests I decided to look into other options. I started at ECPI and have been thrilled ever since. I am a true believer in what ECPI offers students: Quality education and career training and assistance. ECPI offers life education, and I am proud to be part of this team.

I began as a part-time instructor at the Moorefield Campus & came on full-time at the Innsbrook Campus. I teach Math and College Orientation. I love what I do. There is nothing that satisfies me more than to help people learn. I love when I teach someone a concept and can see the light bulb go on. To help someone understand something is a very rewarding experience.

My teaching philosophy is simple. I believe in the 3 F’s to help get an A. I am fair, flexible, and fun. I will do anything I can to help a student understand something. By creating learning environments which are hands on, have real life applications, and focus on problem solving skills I allow students to achieve their academic potential. I believe in teamwork and learning in all situations.

One of my favorite quotes is “To teach is to learn something twice” by Joseph Joubert. We can all learn from each other and the online setting fosters this type of learning. It allows us to communicate via different modes and forces us to communicate effectively. It also forces us to take responsibility for our own learning. This is a valuable lesson as well.

Besides teaching I also am a lifelong learner. I love discovering new things and read constantly. I spend lots of time with my family and friends and if I had my choice would float in a pool all day with a good book and a good friend.
