flipping the classroom

I think that educators and administrators are often reluctant to try a new method of teaching, especially when there is more of an 'unknown' element involved as there is with the flipped classroom and the idea of students having more interaction with each other. Still I think the instructor who wanted to do an online quiz should have been given the opportunity to try it out, even if it was used as more of an in class activity the first few times rather than using it as an actual assesment or quiz the first time around. I agree. Everyone needs to realize that retention begins as soon as a student decides to enroll in school. For a student to have the best chance for success this means that we all have to do our part and that we all need to be communicating with each other, encouraging each other, and encouraging our students. Consistency with the message that we all send is so important. When students get consistent encouragement and continually see that they are supported by their school no matter what stage of the education process they are in that is when their confidence will… >>>

]]> ]]> My biggest take-away from this course is the need to be very careful in what I say to a prospective student if they are introduced to me during their tour of the school. It is so important to pay attention not just to what you are saying but also how you are communicating it to a prospective student. I don't want to ever mislead a prospective student even inadvertently when they have a question about the program. My intetgrity, the integrity of the program, the school, and the company as a whole is so important I would never want to do anything to jeopardize that. I think that integrity is extremely important in any industry but maybe even more so when you are part of education and the healthcare industry. If students or patients can't place their trust in instructors and healthcare professionals who can they place their trust in.
