Communication is key, but scheduled meetings are also important to continue that communication. Weekly PLCs with school peers, monthly with district peers helps keep everyone on track and gives an opportunity to share ideas and best practices. 

A manager at any level, includinga CTE ADmin, must first underatnd the jobs of those whom they mange. In addition, they must also be able to navigate the funding from Perkins, federal, state, and district. 

I have over 5x the neccessary professional development hours, its December. 

This is justification for what I am already doing, I currently have over 50 hours (only 6 are neccessary) of PD this year. In addition I also serve as a teacher mentor, PLC lead, and a DOE trainer for new occupational teachers. 

Vision 25 was great and a perfect example of how to continue ones education while teaching 

Staying current is important. When I was in industry the “it” job was to work for the yellow pages and Twitter wasn’t even a thing. Today the YP is gone, and Twitter has become corrupt and goes by a new name. Navigating new tech is important across all industries as our students will be released into the new world, not the world we once knew. 

Industry professional know the content, they just need education about the teaching aspect. With being properly trained they are more effective in the classroom sharing thier knowledge.
