About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Lynda, Sudents need to know that we are experienced in our given areas. Experience is really the best teacher. Students also need to know that we support them 100%, and we really want to see them succeed. It is certainly our job to produce an environment that is conducive for effective learning to take place. Hi Rtee, Students really like knowing exactly what is expected of them. Examples really provide better clarity. Visual makes things easier to grasp. Patricia Scales
Hi Gregory, Planning is definitely important when trying to problem solve. A lot of our students simply do not know how to go about planning. They need us to help with the planning stages in order to solve problems. Patricia Scales
Hi Jonathon, Preparation is key. Preparation brings about great confidence. No one knows it all; admit when you do not know, but do find out for the student. Patricia Scales
Hi Shanika, Students are genuinely interested in our experiences/stories as to how they relate to the course content. Patricia Scales

Hi Melanie, Students really like the break just from plain old lecture. Students want to and need to hear about our experiences as they apply to the content. I have witnessed role playing to be an effective learning tool as well. Patricia Scales
