Any method of having the students teach one another is a great opportunity for learning.  When they record themselves, they want to make sure they have the correct facts.

Provide thinking, talking and sharing opportunities for the students. Using SWOT gives the teacher a method/system which is effectivee when combined with think, pair share.

Interactions between the studets and teacher is vital to the positive environment of the classroom.  As the teacher you also need to be aware of the dynamic between the students.  You need to make sure that the interactions are positive.

Student engagement starts with being able to answer the following questions for the student:

Am I interested?, Can I do this?, Does it matter?

As a teacher the use of technology needs to be integrated into the classroom in order to facilitate learning

Having a plan is essential for maintaining a calm and confident enviroment.  You do not need to rush through evereything that is planned, but having a plan allows for the flexibility of meeting the students needs while at the same time giving the students a road map to the direction for the class including the day, the week, month, and semester.

Both formative and summative assessments are important when checking students skills and understanding of the material.  Some students work well with paper, others on a computer, others verbally and still others can demonstrate what they have learned.  A teacher needs to be responsive to all types of assessment possiblities.

Planning with flexibility is important.  You have to have a plan, but also be flexible to the needs of the students and the questions that are presented in class.  An employers does not expect that you will spend your time on social media, but that is the go-to behavior for a students when nothing is planned for the class time.

As a teacher I need to be aware of the state and district standards so that the students are prepared and meet the expectations of the course requirements.

Safety is essential within the classroom and helping the students to understand the importance of the safety procedures is vital to running a safe and enjoyable space.

Relationships are the key to understanding the behavior of students and also co-workers.  When the students reallize that you care about them as individuals, they will care about performing well in your classroom.
