It is easy to overlook this at times when we are calling through a database of inquiries, but it is important to respect the wishes of the prospective student.
By violating this policy, not only can there be formal consequences for the institution, but there can also be consequences for the institution's reputation.

I have worked for institutions that have been on both sides of the continuum when it came to keeping admissions informed.  
I have worked for institutions where I was in the loop on program changes or offerings before approval was sought by the CIE.  I have also worked for institutions where departments played everything close to the vest, and did not let admissions know what was happening programmatically&mldr; <span><a href='/topic/comment/100255/125900/469370' style='text-decoration:none;'>>>></a></span></p></div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display">I think it is best practice to visit the website, http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/, monthly so to stay up to date on any regulatory changes.  Our industry is highly regulated, and with good reason, so change can happen often.  I also find that it is important to have a monthly meeting, or time set aside in a monthly meeting, within your admissions department to review any rule changes or acknowledge that no changes have been made.  I also like the suggestion from another forum participant to set monthly calendar reminders to direct us to check the website.

While I absolutely agree that the Resource Notebook is a critical piece for all admissions personnel in the recruitment process, I do not think it is the "only" tool needed to survive.  As admission representatives for our institutions, I think it is also important that we participate in trainings that improve interpersonal and soft sales skills.  The recruitment process is a human experience, and as such, we need to be skilled communicators.  
It is very important that we know not only the rules and regulations, and the information about our institutions, but it is also important to get&mldr; <span><a href='/topic/comment/100255/125073/454052' style='text-decoration:none;'>>>></a></span></p></div>					<!-- </p> -->

While I absolutely agree that the Resource Notebook is a critical piece for all admissions personnel in the recruitment process, I do not think it is the "only" tool needed to survive.  As admission representatives for our institutions, I think it is also important that we participate in trainings that improve interpersonal and soft sales skills.  The recruitment process is a human experience, and as such, we need to be skilled communicators.  
It is very important that we know not only the rules and regulations, and the information about our institutions, but it is also important to get&mldr; <span><a href='/topic/comment/100255/125073/454052' style='text-decoration:none;'>>>></a></span></p></div>					<!-- </p> -->
