When teaching an online class it is important to remember there are going to be many types of students as an instructor will come in contact with. Some students may try to intimidate, others may procrastinate in getting their work done their are others who are over acheivers. As the insturctor it is important to keep lines of communication open to all students and make sure all students are aware that you are going to follow the rules and regulations of the school. Knowing the difference between asynchronous and synchronous is important when working with students. All instructors need to know how to communicate with all types of learns and communicators. If the instructor is unable to help the studuent with their communication problem it could hinder their learning. When learning online it is one needs these skills.

This is where you inttroduce yourself in two ways as the instructor with your credentials so the students will respect you and know that you are there to teach them what they need to know.  Then give them some information as such what your hobbies are or other simple information about yourself that helps open a line of communication. It is important that the students know that you are there to teach them but you are approachable if they need to ask questions.

I have learned so far that there are many different ways to help students succeed. It is important as an instructor to learn all the technology in how to set up an online class, for students to communicate successfully. It is important to know The CMS system and know how to  navigate through the different page to the rooster, gradebook, etc. I am aware it may take some time to be familiar with working on the instructor side of things instead of the student side. It is always good to have a peer to work out the issues.
