Hello Everyone,
My name is Robert Izzo. I have lived in Switzerland most of my life before moving to the USA back in 2005.
I have worked in the finance world and the hospitality industry. I have a passion for wine and I am a certified sommelier.
I teach finance, strategy, cost control and of course wine classes.

I completed EL107 on blended learning and technology today and have to ponder if students are at all overwhelmed by all the technology and data overload. We are bombarding them with extra information and additional hypertexts and various forms of technology approaches, I wonder if they are overstimulated (along with their morning Rock Star drinks).

At this point, the adaptive learning is not based on logarythms and machines, but it is more human based and requires my own intervention, as an instructor, to maintain my students focused and motivated in class.

Teaching in the online environment does not allow me to do any type of field trips, but I have invited guest speakers on specific topics to brig a more hands on view on the specific subject taught is used and applied in real life. Many of my students are working on a Bachelor in Culinary Management and their program include classes such as Finance, Economy, Strategy that often do not appeal to many of them. The presence of a professional from their own chosen field attending the chats as a guest and discussing these aspects has always added a postive… >>>
