I have been considering flippng the classroom for some time now but have put if off because I thought that it would be too involved and take a lot more time than I believe it will now.

Because I only see my classes once per week for 45 minutes, FTC will be very beneficial to helping us use our time doing more productive work and learning.

I have learned that all accommodations are not acceptable. If the accommodation poses a threat to anyone in the class, is a financial burden on the educator or administration or devalues the content in the curriculum, it is not acceptable. All students have the right to learn the same material but in a way that is best for each of them.

This section has taught me that each day is a new day with the students and that you should not hold grudges against the student as it is not their intention to be an issue or defiant or disruptive. It is important to treat them with respect by explaining things to them clearly, redirecting them when needed, and listening to their full thoughts before responding.

This section has given me more insight on the various types of disabilities and a few more accommodations that can be used to help students who might miss key parts of instruction due to their disability. 

I a firm believer in peer help and will continue to use that in class with the added option of note-sharing/comparing.

This section taught me that there is a difference between "deaf" and "Deaf". I had absolutely no dea! The accommodations that need to be in place for hearing or sight impairment are, in a lot of cases, based on consideration for the student. Also, it is best that the educator speaks with the student to get the best idea of what the student needs instead of making accommodations based on their own understanding of what is needed.

I have learned that it is important that the educator and student take the time to meet and discuss the needs of the students. It is also important that educators understand that, while they are required to modify content based on a student's need, they should not fundamentally alter the curriculum.

I plan to make a valiant effort to have one on ones with all of my students that are identified as having disabilities on a regular basis.

I have learned that coping mechanisms and/or medication do not cure a student's disability; the issues that come with the disabilities are just made more manageable. This is important, especially where medication is involved, because many people believe that if a student is "on his/her meds" that they are "fine" and that the hardship for them is eliminated.
