Safety needs to be addressed and practiced before going into a lab.

There are many ways to give assessments in various formats. It is good to use a variety of assessments to measure if a student is "competent" or not.

There are several different learning styles. Even though we are in a lab setting and most often we are using hands on, there is opportunity to try other styles.

Competency based learning objectives fit in with Bloom's Taxonomy. I took a screenshot of the verbs to make my objectives stronger.

I am going to look at how my questions are on my papers.

Create thought provoking questions rather than saying "any questions." Students do not want to be called out in front of their peers seeming like they do not understand the material.

Give students more choices on what assignments to do. This would help them feel in control of their learning.

Take time to create meaningful and engaging opening/finishing activities. Students want to be more hands on then just listening to a lecture.

Probe more and ask thought provoking questions.

Do not discourage incorrect answers, this could lead to closing that student off for the rest of your class.
