A very interesting thing I learned in this module is that surprisingly many students don't make people aware of their learning needs and will drop out prior to letting anyone know they need accommodations of any kind.

I learned that students who are speaking and learning English as a second language will still need to utilize their "mother tongue" or thier native tongue as part their learning process. Also, even if. as a professor, I am bilingual, and that will increase a level of comfortability for the student; the student must still be required to complete assignment using the English language if that is the dominant language. 

I have learned that cultural competence includes cultural differences inclusive of language which could greatly impact the comprehension of the students we are teaching. This lesson also highlighted the importance of being aware of those differences to not negatively impact any of our students and to not allow any other student to negatively impact a student who may have cultural differences. 

I have learned and can understand from this lession, the importance of inclusivity when teaching students. Understanding that socieconomics, gender biasis and other factors may cause students to feel "disempowered". As an instructor, I never forget how it felt to be a student or even an adult learner when all of my classmates were younger. All biases, any biases need to be identifed and we need to cognisant of that when we are teaching in person and online.
