I learned the importance of having a rapport with your students, by doing this they will connect with content better and retention will be higher.

Also when preparing a demo keep it to 5 to 7 steps,  humans are wired to only comprehend 5 to 7 items at a time and retention drops after that.

That on the first day of class students should leave with  a sense of comfort about the class in general what their about to learn and that they will have an t ability to succeed in the course and about continued progress toward their career goals.

You can also motivate students by setting reasonable expectations based on industry standards also by giving them a clear picture of the course, what the expectations and learning process will be, but most important to motivate them and get them excited about their future.

I learned the importance of setting goals for yourself while teaching and that they're  different ways of getting from one point to another.

The key is to get to your destination the quickest, safest, and most direct way. That is what a goal is like. When writing course goals use the road map example to make them clear and direct.

Also why a syllabus is so important to students as an operating manual for the course and answers many of their questions. It helps them understand expectations and outcomes in a clear way and also by creating a checklist… >>>

I learned that there are 3 instructional style: Technical, Professional & Personal.

Also that as an instructor you must be prepared and have a professional plan:

that will assist them in improving their  knowledge and skills striving to become an  excellent instructor. 

Also your image and how you present yourself are essential qualities  for your class, always be prepared and ready not only with your lesson plan but you personal appearance as well.

I learned the importance of creating tips for time management for students, encouraging them to give themselves at least 2-3 hours a week on assignments. Also to setup a calendar with due dates on assignments so they do not procrastinate, constant communication is key, also using netiquette tan acceptable way of communicating online.

I learned the importance of real time social networking utilizing social media allowing the sharing of information and knowledge in real time.

The differences between Asynchronous Vs Synchronous especially the importance of Asynchronous communication that allows for more flexibility in timing, accommodating different schedules.

Overall communication online using several methods is the key due to the fact that their will be more writing which is crucial to establishing a procedure for communication via blogs, discussion boads etc.

I learned the importance of communication online by building several methods like blogs, emails etc. and how crucial it is to establish a procedure for communication with all students and participation being the key. 

Also investing in them on a more personal level is very important for their emotional development.
