In all interactions with prospective and current students, as well as graduates, act with integrity and provide information/responses that are in line with our student handbook. I refer to the handbook whenever I need to discuss a topic that I am not clear on or haven't referred to in a while to ensure I have accurate information and speak in accordance with current policies. I agree this can be very effective. We used to do this after their 1st week to get a "temperture" gauge but I think calling between new student orientation and 1st class could a lot more about the personal connection.

I was in hopes that you received input on your questions as I would also be interested in what others have tried. We have had several students with transportation issues.

 

One resourse that we do offer is circulating an "Exchange List" where students can sign up with their name, town they live in, email, and areas they would like to get together with other students. We are considering adding a checkbox for carpooling. Though I'm not sure of success as it hasn't been impletmented yet.
