Sometimes it's the source that matters. Students may get tired of seeing me. I can teach concepts until I'm blue inthe face. ChatGPT might be the supplemental and refreshing resource students need to understand concepts.

I teach students how to calculate local anesthetic dosages in dental treatment. ChatGPT could provide good examples of case studies for students to solve.

I present students with case studies. Something like, "Your patient presents with hypertension, history of angina, and had a stroke two years ago. He presents for scaling and root planing of maxillary teeth. What anesthetic would you use and what's the best treatment plan for this patient?" I might ask the students to come up with original answers first, then ask ChatGPT. It's a good way to compare and contrast answers.

ChatGPT is a great tool for students, however many of them use it as a default option, not a guide to help them produce original work. If I was a student, I might use ChatGPT to help me get started on an assignment or help me develop a plan for how to write it. However, what I see as an instructor is not that. Students who write poorly often copy and paste directly from AI-generated services. It's blatantly obvious. This circumvents critical thinking. Students don't reflect honestly on assignments. Their writing skills don't improve. I'm not here to speak only… >>>

Most online lectures I watch were boring. Dry as toast. Dry like the Sahara. When I do online lectures, I try (to a certain extent) to make it a performance. Show enthusiasm. Make your voice rise and fall. Students are already gearing up a boring experience. Don't reinforce it.

Keep content relevant. Don't say too many words. Literally don't talk students to death in these PowerPoints. Make your words count. Try to be funny. If you're not funny, well, at least you tried. 

It's important to make your lecture material relevant to real-world applications. I often recall personal experiences in my clinical career to make the course content relatable. I try to explain to students how a theoretical concept could apply to them in real life.
