An excellent instructor will always make the classroom one that is full of love and belonging. Students are esteemed and respected, loved and cared for. The instructor must show empathy and embrace the weakness of the students

I have to understand and embrace the idea that we can learn from our students, and hope that the students we are teaching will eventually know more about the subject matter than we do.

Becoming more patient and knowing how to react to different situations in the classroom. I have to communicate in a manner that will be encouraging to students even in difficult circumstances

The flipped classroom allows instructors to reflect on how to reframe their role in the educational process and move from content provider to a facilitator of learning. 

It is important to make  pre-recorded lectures  short (10 minutes or less) lectures so to keep the students’ full attention for a period of time and not create a boring environment

Communication is key - proactive communication by letting students know the reasons behind having them watch pre-recorded videos before coming to class will give them the motivation to watch them and to get involved

Flipped classroom models give students adequate freedom and flexibility to explore and learn after they work on their individualized assignments outside class. This is good for student learning

Inasmuch as I love to give my students more materials, providing too many sources/links that do not supplement the instruction, or providing them just to give students more information if they happen to seek it out, may go against good workload management strategies. 

As online instructors, we must remember that collaboration affords students the opportunity to share thoughts and interact with peers but there needs to be a balance between designing that experience without being overwhelming as well.

The Leader-by-Example thing got me. I have to understand that students will take their lead from the instructor in the areas of visibility, organization, and compassion. The instructor sets the tone for the online learning community early in the course and maintains it until the final class.
