In keeping detailed records and other information from communications is important. Online instruction is like the traditional class room except in the manners that the students are in person, so there are many different ways to reference what has been said including keeping a paper trail. Communicating with the students is also important because it helps them to learn more about their own communication skills and the retention of information that is being shared with them. 

It’s important to give feedback to the students in private! Having an Asynchronous discussion should be done in a way that is not only helpful for the students but is online. This way all of the students feed off each other’s information and they all participate. Synchronous learning can be utilized for classroom discussions, enabling the students to engage in conversations with each other as well as engaging in activities.

Taking the time to become acquainted with the students gives you a level of understanding and knowledge about how to interact with them individually and as a class. Being able to project your authority in the classroom is imperative to instructor, student relationship. The student has a chance to learn a bit of  who you are from sharing your experiences as well as your knowledge of the industry and life!
