Very good tips on how to handle certain audiences and how to present with limited time. Knowing your audience is also important. I like the personal noted from real expereinces as I could relate to some of them. Even as an instructor presenting alecture for students I can apply some of these same helpful tools. This may also have me to narrow mty docus and provide more thorough lectures/content. 

I previously had to do this going from face to face to online and this take a village to complete including the IT and LMS teams, faculty and students. The students eyes are a great help becasue they catch things we may miss. This is no easy task and nothing is perfect you have to constantly update and revise as you go through each course. As an instructor we have other responsibilities to ensuring the students  are learning such as facilitating and guiding our students. We also have to be clear in our responses and information provided need to be evidence based learning and our own experiences to help bridge the gaps of the learner.

Whether you are teaching synchronous or asynchronous there still needs to be organization and effective communication to facilitate the students learning and for a smooth flow of the class room. Also just becasue the class is asynchronous , the instructor still must provide student engagement and can sometimes be a challenge. So there are both advantages and disadvantages to both.

I have learned that you must assess the tool you are planning to use to have effective stuent outcomes. Not all tools that are given are effective for what you are going to be teaching. I have already come across that while teaching online. Sometimes too many resources and or tools can be a hender versus a help.

Being organized plays a major role in also delivering the course material in a efficient manner. I think it also build confidence to an instructor who has never taught before. As an instructor I have to stay organized because it helps me stay on track and to also keep the students on track with the course. If I am disorganized so will my class and that can lead to a major disaster.

I have found that setting the tone from day one to include expectations, rules and policy is imperative. I have seen to many times where the faculty literally get ran over by the students. There is also no respect there. You do not have to be mean or cruel about it but there is a fine line to say I am the isntructor and you are the students and we are here for a common goal to see you scucceed in this course and program.

I really like the idea of the use it wisely cards to limit the vocal students and to aid in curtailing their behavior. I just may try that when I teach next term.

Regardless of whether the incident happened on or off campus it need to be reported and investigated. Speaking in general, some people do not like getting involved and chooses to say nothing but again regardless it needs to be reported and investigated. I could not imagine if it was me or a loved one let alone a student or employee. Saftey should always be a first priority of any campus.

I have found that you have to keep the classroom alive! Meaning, keeping the students engaged. I made it a habit with starting the class off with a scenario, where the student would have to complete the next steps and other faculty would join in depending on the type of scenario it is. I would also put the students into groups and have them teach the class to each other with of course interjections if something important is missing.
