Activity

When meeting the class for the first time I think it is important to be prepared arrive early get everything laid out as you have planned.  Engage with students as they arrive for class, make them feel comfortable and ready to learn.  Have your syllabus to hand out to each student, have your class number listed on board along with the instructor's name.  Make sure the students are in the correct class and address any issues the student might have.

Effective learning strategies I think begin with a syllabus, letting the students know about the course and expectations for this class.  Getting to know your students as they walk in makes me feel more comfortable about talking with them about the curriculum.  Having the classroom organized and structured also lets the students know that you are serious about their education.

Instructing in a professional manner has many aspects from: methodology of presenting your curriculum, professional attire and cleanliness, attitude and voice in which you speak to your students, and how and when to discipline students from grades to attendance.
