My purpose is to support people using a nonjudgmental, empathetic, strengths-based approach. And I love it so much I decided to train others to do it too! I started out as a regular instructor, then moved up to lead instructor, and now I am the Program Coordinator for Human Services and 2 other college programs on my campus.</p>
<p>My passion is to empower others to help themselves and to resolve their own issues by providing choice and resources. I am optimistic, creative, and strengths-based in my approach. I believe in the healing power of nature, animals, and music.</p>

	<div class="river_content_display"><p>This makes me realize that the amount of prep especially to construct good essay style and multiple choice and matching questions is a lot, more than the prep time allows for instructors currently. I definitely need to be intentional with creating the tests. I now want to go back through all of our current tests we use and edit them for reliability and validity, as they were all created by people in the past with no formal education/teaching knowledge.</p></div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display"><p>Having a portfolio of questions to ask was a good strategy that I want to try and use in all of my classes. And making questions concise is a big one. I have definitely asked a question, gotten confused looks from students, and realized I had to reword the question to make it less "wordy" and more clear.</p></div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display"><p>I liked learning of the specific strategies for each learning style, especially kinesthetic, because I've always been stumped on how to help kinesthetic learners in my class. I've learned that our learning styles quiz we do at the beginning of every cohort is actually a good thing and to keep it up! I like that instructors are encouraged to get students to learn through other styles as well, because realistically, on the job, the student will have no choice but to learn through different styles. It's best to get used to it in a classroom setting first.</p></div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display"><p>Having a portfolio of questions to ask was a good strategy that I want to try and use in all of my classes. And making questions concise is a big one. I have definitely asked a question, gotten confused looks from students, and realized I had to reword the question to make it less "wordy" and more clear.</p></div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display"><p>I liked learning of the specific strategies for each learning style, especially kinesthetic, because I've always been stumped on how to help kinesthetic learners in my class. I've learned that our learning styles quiz we do at the beginning of every cohort is actually a good thing and to keep it up! I like that instructors are encouraged to get students to learn through other styles as well, because realistically, on the job, the student will have no choice but to learn through different styles. It's best to get used to it in a classroom setting first.</p></div>					<!-- </p> -->

I started out as a regular instructor, then moved up to lead instructor, and now I am the Program Coordinator for Human Services and 2 other college programs on my campus.</p>
