About me

Activity

Lead by example and practice what you preach.

I believe the major aspect that I now understand more clearly is compassion. Yes, that might sound odd because it's commonly frowned on in today’s work environment but when dealing with students it greatly increases one’s ability to teach.

Keep up with current technology

Be professional in all aspects of teaching. Dress...attitude...etc.

When is it time to just create a new team?

I also liked the "your own pace" feature, but I hope we can "lock down" some SOP. Constant change can lead to constant confusion. Especially on the student side. Your thoughts?

I could not agree more. A prime example of this is, I just lost a student that had perfect attendance and an A average. This happened because of an online class. Somehow we have got to monitor their online class status. We can't fix what we don't know! -Mike

Ha! Ruth makes a good point! "If we don't have students, then we won't have a job" This is true and I agree that it is a team effort, but I believe that the majority of the responsibility rests  on the instructors. After all we pass or fail these students. Your thoughts?

Luis I believe you hit the nail on the head when you said "We attribute that success to the fact that the instructors and I keep constant contact with all the students in the program. During the initial orientation I place great emphasis in the relationship between attendance and academic success. We also point out the need of staying in contact with the instructors at all times." I can't emphasize this enough. We (as instructors) must interact and get to know our students. This is the key for retention in my opinion. Your thoughts?

I think one of the problems is that students don't always have a clear definition of what is expected of them. Your thoughts?
